Beatrice Kelly

Obituary of Beatrice Faye Kelly

Beatrice Faye Kelly, 91, of Terra Alta, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 2nd, with family at her side. The daughter of the late Andrew Howard and Lillian Bucklew Lipscomb, she was born February 26, 1931, in Preston County. She attended school in Terra Alta and as an energetic honor student was proud to have once been named "Lady of the Golden Horseshoe" for outstanding knowledge of West Virginia culture and history. Valuing education, she was always interested in studying, learning, and obtaining new skills. With an ear for music, Bea was destined to play the piano. At an early age, she graced the congregation of the Whitedale Brethren Church with the sound of hymns. Upon getting married, she continued her enjoyment of playing at the Freeland United Methodist Church, where she brightened church services and events for many years. In addition to the piano, Bea had an abundant number of other hobbies including gardening, bird watching, crocheting, and crafts. She also enjoyed teaching piano lessons and volunteering for a variety of school programs. Her greatest joy, however, was her family and she always believed that her children came first. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly and enjoyed watching all of them grow. She is survived by three sons - Gary Kelly, Ronald Kelly (Juanita), all of Terra Alta, and Joseph Kelly of Atlanta, GA; one daughter, Barbara "Bobbi" Wiles (Rex); a son-in-law, Richard Spiker, of Terra Alta; a close family friend, Mike Cooper, of Atlanta, GA; fourteen grandchildren: Brian Spiker (Jennifer), Cindy Argabrite (Jon), Scott Kelly (Elisa Cooke), Craig Kelly (Nicole), Meghan Foley (Sean), Jillian Kelly (Al Kool), Bradley Zimmerman (Caroline), Andrew Zimmerman (Carlie), David Kelly (Katie), Douglas Kelly (Jessica), Michelle Dixon (Jonathan), Jason Kelly (Terri), Justin Kelly (Corey), Christopher Kelly (Catie); two step-grandchildren: Kevin Wiles (Carol) and Joshua Wiles (Ashley); and twenty-six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, David "Dave" Kelly; three daughters, infant Katherine Ann, Donna Zimmerman (Jim), and Karen Spiker; one sister, Janet Cuppett; and two brothers, George Lipscomb and Howard "Andy" Lipscomb. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Freeland Methodist Church, c/o Janice Feather, 122 Pine Run Road, Terra Alta, WV, 26764. Family and friends will be received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8p.m. The funeral service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Terra Alta on Tuesday September 6, 2022 at 11:00a.m with Rev.
