Obituary of Norman L. Shaffer Sr.

Norman L. Shaffer Sr. entered eternal rest on November 17, 2021, in upstate New York.

Born on November 3, 1931, to Frank and Hazel Shaffer in Aurora, WV.

Always an outgoing, outspoken person, he loved the outdoors, the mountains of West Virginia, his children and his dog, Sugar. He served over 13 years in the United States Army as drill sergeant and military police. He was proud to have served his country and spoke many times of the various Generals he drove for, and the places and countries he had seen. After leaving the Service he owned/drove his own truck across country for many years until his retirement.

Surviving are his children Shalkye (Larry) Clark of Kimballton IA, Norman Jr. (Kathy) Shaffer of Afton NY, Shauna (Mark) Rapuzzi of Guilford NY, and Robert (Debra) Shaffer of Mount Upton NY, Son in Law Lenny Robinson of Irwin IA, Sister; Catherine Schneider of Anaheim CA, and Sugar; 18 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Hazel Shaffer, daughter Lisa Robinson, grandson Phillip C. Shaffer, great grandson Christian R. Pickett, brother Harvey Allen Shaffer, stepson Tom Rushing, and Elizabeth A. Shaffer, mother of his children.

Services are to be held at Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home in Terra Alta, WV at 12PM on Tuesday, November 23 2021. Friends may pay their respects from 11AM-12PM with services immediately following; a military burial will follow at the Aurora Cemetery.
