David Clutter

Obituary of David Alan Clutter

Dave Clutter, 57, of Terra Alta, ended his journey on earth Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. The son of Marion Nordeck Clutter Sharps of Terra Alta, and the late Thomas H. Clutter, he was born December 8, 1960 in Kingwood, WV. As a little boy, David looked forward to spending time on the Nordeck farm at Freeport. He loved the farm, the big barn and the farm animals, but most of all he loved his great Uncle Bert, who also lived on the farm. Bert was his best buddy and David always had a special place in his heart for him. Many hours were spent with Bert telling him wonderful stories of a place called the Big Rock Candy Mountain, where the toys grew on trees and the sun shines every day on the lemonade springs. Dave was a graduate of East Preston High School. He worked at Sterling Processing and Baush and Lomb both in Oakland. He followed his father into the real estate business, where they along with his sister and wife built a successful real estate company, Clutter Realty. Dave enjoyed fast cars, motorcycles and living on the edge. He also enjoyed being outdoors, cutting firewood, enjoying his property, riding the trails with friends, jeeping and listening to music. He endured a lengthy stay at the hospital and became a very popular patient throughout the hospital but especially on 4 Main and SICU. Even though he had great pain and suffering, he continued to bring joy and humor to his caregivers. David was the most caring son, husband, father and brother anyone could ever ask for. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife, Robin Landon Clutter; his children, Ryan Freeman of Clemmons, NC and Skylar Freeman Clutter of Middleburg, VA; sister, Cathy Clutter of Terra Alta and many good friends and classmates. He will be missed. A memorial service will be held at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta on Saturday, September 1, 2018 with visiting from 11:00 until the 2:00 time of service with Rev. Eric Beeman officiating. A special thank you to Garrett Memorial Hospital, Garrett Cancer Center, UPMC Shadyside, Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center and Preston Home Health. Donations may be made to WV Caring, PO Box 760, Arthurdale, WV 26520. Condolences may be made at www.arthurwrightfuneralhome.com
