Obituary of Hans Josef Goehl
It is with great sadness that the family of Hans Josef Goehl, 77, of Terra Alta (Alpine Lake community) announces his death on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV. The son of the late Elizabeth (Shuler) and Josef Goehl, he was born on February 1, 1941 in Budenheim, Germany.
Graduating at the top of his class in precision machining, Hans served an apprenticeship in Buedesheim where he earned a coveted status of "master machinist". Hans immigrated via Ellis Island from Budenheim b. Mainz, Germany in 1961 and worked as a master machinist for more than 15 years. In 1977, Hans moved his family to Terra Alta, WV where he owned and operated Arrowhead Machine Shop. It was often said, "given a set of blueprints, a micrometer, and a lathe, Hans could build anything in the world". Hans always taught his children that the best 2 tools are your hands - knowing what he taught his children, they would also teach theirs.
Hans was a loyal West Virginia football fan who loved traveling, cooking, spending winters in Florida with Mary Jo, dining or visiting with his children and grandchildren.
Hans was an active community member and served on committees of the VFW and the Loyal Order of Moose and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
