Obituary of Dorothy Lee Spaid

Dorothy Lee Wilt Spaid, 88, of Aurora, died Monday May 16, 2016 at the home of her granddaughter, where she was living, surrounded by family. The daughter of the late Lester and Mildred Harsh Wilt, she was born September 2, 1927 in Kempton, MD. She was a member of Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, Eglon where she was the Deacon, part of the grief share program and a Sunday school teacher. Dorothy was a teacher, a principal at Red House School and supervisor of Chapter One in Garrett County. After retirement she was a substitute teacher for several years in Garrett and Preston County Schools. She worked for 50 years in the school system. She was also a member of the Preston County Senior Citizens, the Homemaker, and Delta Capa Gamma. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, walking, reading and especially her grandchildren. She is survived by one daughter and spouse, Nancy and Joe Stemple of Aurora; one brother, Bernard Wilt of Kingwood; special sister-in-law, Clara Spaid; four grandchildren and spouses, Annette and Parker Moats, Jr. and Dianna and Harry "Todd" Moats, Jr. all of Aurora, Cathy and James Shoemaker of Bridgeport, and David and April Sisler of Aurora; three great grandchildren, Mason Moats, McKenzie Moats, Chase Sisler; a foster great granddaughter and 14 nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert G. Spaid in 1996; one sister, Thelma Wilt Whetsell and two brothers, Alden and David Wilt. Family and friends will be received at the Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, 3075 Maple Spring Hwy, Eglon, WV 26716 on Wednesday from 2-8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 Thursday, May 19, 2016 until the 11:00 a.m. time of service with Rev.
