Obituary of Vonda Lee Mersing

Committal services will be held at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home on January 15, 2025 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Larry Anderson officiating. 

Vonda Lee Mersing, 89, of Terra Alta, WV, passed away Friday January 10, 2025, at home with family by her side.

She was born July 13, 1935, in Leadmine, WV, a daughter of the late Hugh W. Helmick and Katherine (Dumire) Helmick.

Vonda was a cook for the board of education and local schools for 20 years. While working she was a member of the athletic boosters. She also held the most important job of being a homemaker. Vonda enjoyed going to Balls auction and gardening.

She is survived by three sons, Terry A. Mersing and wife, Sharon, Randy L. Mersing, Gary L. Mersing and wife, Becky; daughter, Kathern "Kathy" Mersing; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brothers, Arthur Helmick and William Helmick; sister, Barbara Bias, and fur baby, LuLu.

In addition to her parents, Vonda is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, C. Dwaine Mersing, Sr. in 2012, a son, Clyde D. Mersing, Jr., and siblings, Hugh, Joann, and Twila.

A committal service will be held at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home in Terra Alta, WV, on Wednesday January 15, 2025, at 1:00 pm with Rev. Larry Anderson officiating. There has been a change in location due to the potential of severe weather and temperatures.
