Obituary of Kermit Melvin Hartley
Kermit M. "Kerm" Hartley, 96, of Terra Alta, WV, passed away Sunday November 24, 2024, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born December 1, 1927, in Lead Mine, WV, a son of the late Colin C. Hartley and Pheby Ellen (Martin) James.
Kerm proudly served in the United States Army Air Core. He worked at Shirer's Tin Shop then as an electrician at Lewis and Burge for over 55 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Terra Alta.
He is survived by his daughter, Vickie DeBerry and husband, Harold; grandchildren, Dennis Lee Billips (Wendy), Marcia Knepp (Bill), and Melissa Ann Rice (Robert); great grandchildren, Lucy Billips, Craig Pritt (Rachel), and Megan Hinebaugh (Logan); great-great grandchildren, Olivia, Sophie, Kinleigh, and Kason.
In addition to his parents, Kerm is preceded in death by his loving wife of over 65 years, Wilma Jean Hartley; brother, Wade, and three sisters, Rena, Virginia, and Opal.
A graveside service will be held in the Terra Alta Cemetery on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 11:30 am. Military Honors will be conducted by the Preston County Honor Guard.
