Obituary of Madonna Marie DeLauder

89, of Terra Alta, passed away Monday, May 2, 2016 at Oakland, MD. Madonna was born in Cresson, PA on September 17, 1926, a daughter of the late Leo Francis and Rose Matilda (Plunkett) Harmon. Donna was a graduate of Terra Alta High School, class of 1944. She was a devout Catholic and was a Eucharistic Minister, member of the Altar Society and Parish Council at Saint Edwards Catholic Church. She was also active in the Terra Alta Community and had a special love for the town and its people. Donna loved having all of her very large family together for holidays and special occasions and would happily prepare a meal for 75 to 80 people at her historic "Hawthorn House" built by Dr. Mahlon Loomis in Terra Alta. She is survived by ten children, Thomas (Debbie) DeLauder, George (Brenda) DeLauder, Rosemary (Gary) Sigley, Patrick (Shelia) DeLauder, Cathy Strecker, Christopher (Connie) DeLauder, Nancy DeLauder, Robert (Melissa) DeLauder, Angela (John) Burns, all of Terra Alta and David (Ashley) DeLauder of Aurora. Donna was very proud of and adored her 20 grandchildren: Michael, Brian, Jaime, Shelly, Lori, Julie, Joseph, Anthony, Heather, Madonna, Jonathan, Daniel, Andrew, Lydia, Robert, George, Brittany, Tyler, Emily, Bernadette and her 20 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, George Andrew DeLauder; one son, John Andrew DeLauder; three brothers, Joseph, John and Robert Harmon and one sister, Mary Margaret Frazee. Friends may call at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 with a scripture service at 7:30. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Saint Edwards Catholic Church in Terra Alta with Father Andrew Switzer as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Terra Alta Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Terra Alta Food Pantry, PO Box 442.
