Obituary of Michael Joseph Hartley

Michael Joseph Hartley, 77, of Terra Alta, WV, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at home. He was born September 19, 1946, in Kingwood, WV, a son of the late Joseph Hartley and Doris Eileen (Calhoun) Hartley. Michael proudly served in the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Engine Mechanic on Air Force One and served in the Vietnam War. He retired from the Air Force Reserves after 26 years. Michael is survived by his sons, Darrin Hartley and wife, Kim, Rodney Hartley and wife, Amanda, Kenny Hartley, and stepson, Todd Sandberg and wife, Michelle; brothers, Roger Hartley, Larry Hartley, Joseph R. Hartley, and stepbrother, Charles Stone; stepsister, Marne Sherman; grandchildren, Raley Hartley, Jack Sandberg, Molly Sandberg, and Jasmine Sandberg; and a special friend Keith Murphy. In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in death by his loving wife, Susan Linette Hartley in 2020; stepmother who helped raise him, Ellouise Hartley; stepson, Scott Sandberg; and brother, Nelson J. Hartley. To honor Michael's wishes, cremation services will be entrusted with the Arthur H Wright Funeral Home in Terra Alta.
