Obituary of Helen Louise Terry

Helen Louise (Sypolt) Terry, 72, of Terra Alta entered into Heaven on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Garrett Regional Medical Center in Oakland, MD. The daughter of the late Edgar D. and Betty Jane (Kempher) Sypolt, she was born August 31, 1951, in Terra Alta. Upon graduating from Terra Alta High School in 1969, she left home for Michigan where she met and married Rudy Terry. She worked for many years for Shatterproof Glass Corporation until Rudy became ill and she devoted her life to providing his care until his passing in 1990. She later worked as a receptionist for a medical supply company. After retirement she returned to Terra Ata in 2012. She became the caregiver for three very special people who welcomed her into their families like one of their own. Helen attended the First United Methodist Church in Terra Alta. She is survived by her brother-in-law and special friend, Edwin D. Smith; three brothers, Charles Sypolt and wife Linda of Albright, Robert Sypolt of Terra Alta and David Sypolt and wife Lisa of Eglon; one sister, Debra and husband Ray Gower of Terra Alta; brother-in-law, Eddie Felton; several nieces and nephews, and her loving cat, Hissy. In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Jane Smith and Mary Ann Felton; and a nephew, Timothy Smith. Family and friends will be received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta from 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2024, until the 1:00 p.m. time of service with Rev. Eric Beeman officiating.
