Obituary of Alice R. Bolyard

Alice Ruhama Bolyard, 85, of Aurora, formerly of Amboy, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on October 6, 2023. She was born on October 15, 1937, to the late Floyd Leslie Knapp and Wilma Edna (Pifer) Knapp in Terra Alta. Alice was a beloved member of the Amboy community, participating in the Amboy Sewing Club and was an active member of the Amboy United Methodist Church. She was a very talented seamstress and worked for many years at the Terra Alta Sewing Factory, but her greatest joy came from being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren who always put a smile on her face, tending to her flower gardens, canning, and enjoying an old fashion wiener roast. She is survived by five daughters and spouses, Angie Lyons of Milton, DE, Doris Sullivan, Robin Hartman (Pat), Teri Bishoff (Ron) all of Amboy and Shari Mauldin (John) of Aurora; nine grandchildren, Jamie Lower, Tonya Lower- Johnson (Mike), Joshua Sullivan (Bethany), Jennifer Lewis, Denise Shaffer (Bobby), Patrick Hartman (Julie), Jessica Reggi (Ben), Jonathan Mauldin (Mykayla), Ashley Wood (Matt). She was also blessed to have 20 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Sue Rohrbough (Jim) and a brother-in-law, Wick Myers (Patty). Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James Roosevelt Bolyard in 2007; one infant sister, Doris C. Knapp and two brothers, John Knapp, Don Knapp and a son-in-law, Tony "Casey" Sullivan. Family and friends will be received at the Roy Durst Fellowship Hall at 3088 Aurora Pike, Aurora, WV 26705 from 3-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 8, 2023, and at the Amboy United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 9, 2023, until the 11:00 a.m. time of service with Pastor Mike Lantz officiating. Burial will follow in the Terra Alta Cemetery. The family would like to extend a warm thank you to Amedysis Hospice for their excellent care and compassion over the last year to Alice and her family.
