Obituary of Ruth Ann Groves

Ruth Ann Groves,

79 of Terra Alta died Thursday October 5, 2023, at Kingwood Healthcare Center.

The daughter of the late Willis Ray and Frances Lucille Lipscomb Freeland, she was born April 30, 1944, in Terra Alta.

Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

She is survived by her husband of almost 46 years, Kenneth "Kenny" B. Groves; two sons, Herman C. Coen Jr. of Chicago, and Danny B. (Jolene) Groves of Terra Alta; three daughters, Frances E. Pritt of Terra Alta, Lori J. (Rodney) Uphold of Oakland and Dodi L. Harrison of Terra Alta; two brothers, Arthur (Linda) Freeland and Charles (Marilyn) Freeland; one sister, Vikki Freeland of Terra Alta; 15 grandchildren: Amber, Autumn, Zach, Bethany, Keneesha, Marli, Brandy, Patrick, Matthew, Steven, Savannah, Ethan, Zach, Hannah and Jasmine; 25 great grandchildren; son-in-law, Phil Harrison, and several nieces and nephews and her favorite dogs, Maddie and Ivy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Ruby A. Coen; three sisters, Dortha Adams, Carolyn Johnson, Doris Lewis, and one grandson, Ryan White.

Family and friends will be received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home from 4-7:00p.m. on Sunday and from 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 9, 2023 until the 11:00a.m. time of service with Pastor Stanley Waybright officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
