Obituary of Linda June DeWitt

Linda June "Jake" DeWitt, 72 of Terra Alta died Sunday September 18, 2022, with family by her side at Mon General Hospital, Morgantown, WV. The daughter of the late George Baldwin and Kathleen Josephine Holly Fitchett, she was born February 28, 1950, in Terra Alta. She was an independent woman with strong moral values. She raised her family on her own since 1979. Her favorite times were being with family and her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed camping, fishing and being outdoors. She was an animal lover. Linda liked to be on the go, and was always there to help others. She is survived by her children, Junior (Helen) DeWitt, David DeWitt, Amy (Sam) Pellen, Eric (Beth) DeWitt, Dennis "D.J. Powell, and Micky (Lindsey) Powell; two special nephews she considered sons, Mark and CJ Fitchett; four brothers, Elmer Fitchett, Wayne (Debbie) Fitchett, Grover (Sandy) Fitchett, Chester (Jessica) Fitchett; two sisters, Betty Fitzgerald and Wilma (Robert) Tasker; a brother-in-law, Junior Cole; eight grandchildren Syp, Tess, Shawna, Maleah, Kathleen, Eric Jr., Garrett and Lily; nine great grandchildren, JadeAnna, Rebekah, Charles, Dekota, Evalynne, Melissa, Dawson, Madison and Gracie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Ross DeWitt in 1979; two children, Mark and Amanda DeWitt; a grandson, Levi; three sisters, Rebecca "Jane" Fultz, Margaret (Jimmy) Holtzclaw and Barbara Cole; and her in-laws, Goldie Pearl and Harry DeWitt, and brother-in-law, Wayne Fitzgerald. Family and friends will be received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta on Wednesday from 5-8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. on Thursday September 22, 2022, until the 11:00 a.m. time of service with Rev. David Spence officiating. Burial will follow in the Terra Alta Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to assist with the funeral expenses.
