Obituary of Ronald Emmett Nazelrod

Ronald E. Nazelrod, Jr.,

     65, of Terra Alta died Wednesday April 6, 2022 at home with family.

     The son of Helen Everly Nazelrod of Terra Alta and the late Ronald E. Nazelrod, Sr., he was born July 28, 1956 in Baltimore, MD.

     He served his life in community work as an operator of the Terra Alta Sewage Plant, the Terra Alta Water Plant and Alpine Lake Sewer Plant.

     Ronald served as a Preston County Deputy Sheriff from 1982-1991 and Criminal and Narcotics Investigator.  He also worked as Alpine Lake Security and Chief of the Terra Alta Police Department.  In 1991 he started Nazelrod Excavating along with his brother Wesley until his retirement in 2018.

     He attended Lifegate Church and served as an Elder of the Church.

     He enjoyed hunting and fishing and being outdoors.  He enjoyed spending time with Becky and going to flea markets.

     He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Becky Nazelrod; his son and spouse, Mathew and Krista Nazelrod of Terra Alta; brother, Wes Nazelrod of Terra Alta; and his two grandchildren that he adored and called his two angels, Kendra and Lucas Nazelrod.

     In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Nazelrod.

     Family and friends will be received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta from 12:00 noon on Friday April 8, 2022, until the 1:00 p.m. time of service with Pastor Charles May officiating.  Burial will follow in the Terra Alta Cemetery.
