Ruth Carol DeWitt,

76, of Oakland, MD, a loving wife, mother grandmother and great grandmother passed away Saturday January 22, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family.

The daughter of the late Stanley and Evelyn Marie Syruws, she was born February 15, 1945 in Crellin, MD.

Carol loved bowling, gardening, feeding her birds, listening to music, and swinging. She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a very loving, kind soul who loved her family, friends and neighbors. She helped everyone that needed help and was a friend to all.

She is survived by two sons, Larry Dean (Tammy) DeWitt of Lancaster, PA and Scott DeWitt of Rowlesburg; a daughter, Sherri DeWitt of Oakland; two sisters Jane (Bob) DeWitt of Martinsburg and Pat Kisner of Kingwood; two brothers, Tim Syruws and Sam Syruws both of Corinth; sister-in-law, Martha Syruws; eight grandchildren, Christopher (Jen), Mark (Sara), Brandon, Kayla (Allen), Joey, Megan, Nicholas, and Hannah Bug; five great grandchildren, Drake, Isaac, Haven, Rylin and Owen; and her special cat, Kitty.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Larry C. DeWitt in 2015 and a brother, David Syruws.

There will be a private family burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.
