Obituary of Gary Dee Mitchell

Gary Dee Mitchell, 69 of Terra Alta, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 9,2021. He was born on November 12, 1952, in Cheyenne, WY, a son of the late Gerald and Claire (Richards) Mitchell. His loving wife of 32 years, Patty Mitchell went on to prepare their eternal home on December 8,2021, and they are now truly together forever. Gary and Patty were both devout Christians. Gary was employed by the Preston County BOE as a custodian and retired after 19 years. The school children lovingly knew him as Mr. Gary. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He truly loved his country and enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time at Big Bear Lake. He is survived by his children, Adrienne Goodwin of Terra Alta, Tyler Wagner and Lisa of Newburg and Joseph Mitchell and Bobbi of Kingwood; eight grandchildren, Krista Pingley and Daniel, Garrett Goodwin, Ethan, Bryson, Payton and Ashlynn Wagner, Joey and Zachary Mitchell; two great granddaughters, Zoe and Cloe Pingley and his first great grandson whom he was looking forward to meeting in March. A brief service will be held at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 22396 Northwestern Pike, Romney, WV 26757, on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at 1pm, with Pastor Chris Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his wife, Patty. Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home in Terra Alta, WV are handling arrangements for the Mitchell family.
