As a former colleague of Nan Peters, I can attest that her life was more than dates and events. I remember her as a witty, wise, compassionate and dedicated member of the professional staff in the Preston County School System. We valued her contributions to the professional team that created and sustained what I considered an outstanding program for students with special needs. Nan saw these students as individuals who needed the very best she could offer in her evaluation of their needs. Her written reports always reflected her compassion and humanity. I close with this thought from an anonymous writer: "most of us leave but faint footprints in the sands of time and the most we can hope for is that someone will remember us a person who cared." Nan cared!
