Obituary of Shirley Garcia Moats

Shirley Garcia Moats, 58, of Bretz, died Saturday September 25, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. The daughter of the late Oliver Andrew and Dorothy Virginia Moats, she was born June 18, 1963, in Oakland, MD. Shirley worked at the Preston County Sheltered Workshop for over 20 years. She lived for Saturday night card games with the girls and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Allen Moats and husband, David Waybright of Bretz; two brothers, Steve Moats of Bretz and Wayne Moats of FL; two sisters, Linda and Betty Moats, both of Bretz; four grandchildren, Gracy, Nataile, Katherine and Oliver Moats and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Moats in 2016, a sister, Freda Jane Moats and a brother, Andrew Moats. The family would like to extend a special thank you to WV Caring and WVU Home Health Team both in Reedsville. Family and friends will be received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta from 11:00 a.m. on Thursday September 30, 2021, until the 2:00 p.m. time of service with Rev. Sam Moon officiating. Burial will follow in the Aurora Cemetery. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and for the safety of everyone attending, visitors are suggested to wear a mask and practice social distancing while paying respects to the family.
