Obituary of Charles Wesley Bucklew

Charles Wesley "Buck" Bucklew, 73, of Terra Alta died Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at his home surrounded by family. The son of the late Raymond Buckner and Bernadette Leah Friend Bucklew, he was born February 8, 1948, in Terra Alta. He was a member of the Whitedale Brethren Church and served as the bell ringer. He worked in the Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina in the forestry Department, fish hatchery and watch tower. He did carpentry work in West Virginia and Florida. He loved fishing and sitting in the sun tanning. He enjoyed campfires surrounded by family and friends. He was an antique car enthusiast. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Poling Bucklew; a stepson, Shawn Poling of Charleston; a brother Roger (Emily) Bucklew of NC; sisters-in law, Tiney Bucklew of Crellin, MD and Roxie Bucklew of Terra Alta; three step grandchildren, Leslie, Sylvia, and Robert; several nieces and nephews; his adopted family, Jay, Maureen, Katherine and Christopher Anderson and also other Anderson families and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Samuel Merrill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin sister, Judith Bucklew, and sister Sue (Bobby) Sirk and brothers Jim and David Bucklew. Family and friends will be received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta on Thursday from 6-8:00 p.m. and from noon on Friday September 17, 2021, until the 1:00 p.m. time of service with Rev. Stanley Waybright officiating. Burial will follow in the Terra Alta Cemetery. Covid-19 safety precautions will be taken, the social distancing six-foot rule and guests whose health allows are to wear mask.
