Obituary of Maxine Feather

Maxine Feather, 94, of Terra Alta, died Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Garrett Regional Medical Center, Oakland, MD. The daughter of the late Harland and Lucy Parsons Freeland, she was born on June 17th, 1922 in Terra Alta. Maxine was the oldest member of Freeland United Methodist Church. She was the last surviving member of the Terra Alta High School Class of 1941 and was honored by the civic club as the eldest lady in town. She worked at the People's Clothing Store and People's Grocery Store and then went to work at Hopemont Hospital where she retired. She was a wonderful cook and loved to bake cookies for her grandchildren which earned her the name of "Grandma Cookie" by her Great-grandchildren. She is survived by three sons and spouses, Richard and Cindy Feather of Terra Alta, Ronnie and Teresa Feather of Culpepper, VA and John and Janice Feather of Terra Alta; two brothers and spouses, Bob and Dot Freeland and Jim and Harriet Freeland, all of Terra Alta; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Freeland of Oakland; five grandchildren, Scott Feather, Ronald "Boots" Feather, Leah Feather, Dana McCormick and Codie Henson; six great grandchildren, Cameron, Makenzie, Gaige, Wyatt, Raelynn, Trenton. Care-giver Helen Terry and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Ralph Lynn Feather in 1991, two brothers, Jennings and Donald Freeland and one grandson, Willie Feather. Family and friends will be received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta on Tuesday from 4-8:00 p.m. and from 10 a.m on Wednesday November 16, 2016 until the 11:00time of service at the funeral home with Rev. Eric Beeman officiating.
