Obituary of Doris Rae Lewis

Doris Rae (Freeland) Lewis, 70, of Terra Alta passed away on Sunday December 20, 2020 at Garrett Regional Medical Center in Oakland, MD. The daughter of the late Willis Ray and Francis Freeland, she was born December 25, 1949 in Terra Alta,a very special Christmas gift. Doris was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved to hunt and fish and take long rides with her son Bill, grandkids Anthony and Caitlin and friend, Howard "Joey" Suess. A very special bond formed creating long lasting memories between them. She retired from Hopemont Hospital. She is survived by her loving son and primary caregiver, Bill (Shelby) Lewis, grandson Anthony, granddaughter, Caitlin Hurley and special friend, Howard "Joey" Suess, all of Terra Alta. All were a huge part of her daily life and provided daily care. A daughter, Carla (Alan) Roth of Eglon; son Rodney Lewis of Bruceton Mills; grandchildren, Darren and Emilie Roth, and McKenzie and Brooklyn Lewis; sisters, Ruth (Kenny) Groves, Dortha Adams, Vikki Freeland; brothers, Arthur (Linda) Freeland and Charles (Marilyn) Freeland; sister-in-law, Nadean Whitacre and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Howard Carl "Bear" in 2013; sister, Carolyn Johnson and special niece, Karen Durr who provided her with a caring, loving touch as a Caregiver. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Doris to the Alzheimer's Foundation or the American Cancer Society. Family and friends will be received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta on Wednesday from 3-7:00 p.m. and from 10:00a.m. Thursday December 24, 2020 until the 11:00a.m. time of service with Pastor Marshall Woods officiating.
