Obituary of Merle Virginia Nice

Merle Virginia Nice, 96, of Terra Alta, died Friday August 21, 2020 at home. She was born August 16, 1924 on Salt Lick, the daughter of the late Albert Wallace and Virginia Elizabeth Myers Lantz. Merle was a member of the Amboy United Methodist Church; and a life member of the Aurora-Terra Alta VFW Aux# 578. She retired from Hopemont Hospital and worked with the Terra Alta Ambulance Auxiliary too. She was the Terra Alta Civic Clubs Oldest Lady for three years. She is survived by a son; Ernest Leroy (Kathy) Nice of Terra Alta; a daughter, Linda Darlene (Leonard) Snyder of Terra Alta; seven grandchildren, Ernie (Jessica) Nice, Jasen (Amanda) Nice, Emily (Jason) Roy, Katie (Andy) Rodeheaver, Nikki Nice, Rebecca (Brian) Raber and Sarah (Major) Rettiq; one step grandson, David Rick (Donna) Ramsey; 17 great grandchildren; and special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Ernest L. Nice in 2007; two brothers, Washington Everett Lantz and Raymond Daily Lantz and a sister, Mae Blanch Haught. Family and friends will gather at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery from 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 until the 1:00 p.m. time of service with Rev. J. Michael Lantz officiating. Burial will follow.
