Julia Baker

Obituary of Julia Elizabeth Baker

Julia Elizabeth (Lowers) Baker, 64, of Rivesville, WV, passed away Monday, December 25, 2023, at home surrounded by her family.

She was born October 11, 1959, in Kingwood, WV. She is a daughter of the late Martin Calvin and Sarah Beverly (Hewitt) Lowers.

Julia was a naturalist at heart. She loved gardening, flowers and animals of all kinds, listening to music, playing her guitar, and reading. Julia was a true free spirit. She always had a wealth of knowledge. Those who were fortunate enough to know her knew Julia was warm, welcoming, and had a charismatic nature. A true friend who is gone too soon. True to her quirky and dramatic sense of humor, she left us on Christmas day to ensure everyone would remember her.

Julia is survived by two daughters, Joni Rhae McDaniel and fiancé, Eric and Lhea Renee McDaniel; special niece, Barbara Ricketts, whom she thought of as a daughter; one grandson, Ethan, along with several other bonus grandchildren; three stepdaughters, Sondra, Leah, and Lauren; a step-son, Gary Baker and wife, Julie; brothers, Virgil Lowers and wife, Penny, Randall Lowers and wife, Nemelyn, and Kendall Lowers; sisters, Laura Petersheim and husband, Eldon and Marta Lowers-Moon; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Julia is preceded in death by her husband Steven Wade Baker, Sr.; stepson, Steven Baker, Jr.; sister, Sarah Beverly Bittner, and brother-in-law Michael Moon, Sr.

To honor Julia's wishes, cremation services will be provided by the Arthur H Wright Funeral Home in Terra Alta, WV. A memorial service will be held Sunday January 21, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Sam Moon officiating.  Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
