Norma Potter Obituary

Our amazing mother, Norma "Tommie" Hart (Storie) Potter, 79, of Stafford, VA and Alpine Lake, WV, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026.

Norma was the youngest daughter of the late Lawrence and Emma Storie of Roan Mountain, TN. She was born in Banner Elk, NC on March 1, 1947, at Grace Hospital at Lees McRae College (same room as her husband).

She graduated from East Tennessee State University in 1968 and later earned two master's degrees from Boston University and the University of Southern California. Norma married Albert on June 7, 1968, after his enlistment in the US Army and two-year deployment to Vietnam.

She is survived by her husband, Albert (Pete) Eugene Potter; two sons, Eric (m. Rebecca Roush), and Christopher, (m. Shanon Grimes); three grandchildren: Dustin (m. Katlyn Caroll), Christopher Brett (m. Sarah Price), and Ericka (m. David Oliver); nine great-grandchildren, her "little sweeties": Carl, Christopher, Denton, Elizabeth, Hazel, Rose, Ivy, Olivia, and Sophia; her brother, Leslie (m. Cathy Freeman); sister, Kate (m. Glen Harrison); super supportive sisters-in-law, Bell Bennett, Paula Potter, and Rita Storie. She had so many amazing nephews and nieces, grand and great nephews and nieces, friends, neighbors, and coworkers. All kept her busy and captured her heart. She loved everyone and touched so many lives. We love her greatly.

She joins her brothers and sisters in heaven: Ronald, Bill, Dennis, Jim, Francis, and Dessa.

To honor her wishes, the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, 105 Highland Avenue, Terra Alta, WV will provide compassionate and professional cremation services. A memorial service will be held on a later date in Tennessee.

Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.arthurwrightfuneralhome.com.
