Obituary of Ronald Curtis Lewis
Ronald Curtis "Ron" Lewis, 85, of Terra Alta, WV, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Select Specialty Hospital in Morgantown, WV, with family by his side.
He was born on October 20, 1940, at home in the Salt Lick Community, Terra Alta, WV, a son to the late Vaughn Curtis Lewis and Dollie (Calhoun) Lewis.
Ron proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a part of the 46th engineer's infantry from August 1965 – April 1966 serving in Vietnam as a demolition specialist. He was a Civil War and B&O Railroad enthusiast. He enjoyed traveling to each train station in West Virginia and visiting war battlefields, especially Gettysburg and Antietam. Ron worked in contracting, owning his own business. His most considerable work was remodeling Doc's Garage into what is now St. Edwards Catholic Church and building many homes including the Brandonville Pike Addition and Cranberry Glade Addition.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Kathie (Sullivan) Lewis; daughter, Kristin Lewis-Kremer and husband, Steven; three grandchildren, Spencer Novosel, Lindsay Kremer, and Sydney Kremer; two sisters, Debbie DeWitt and Shirley Hill, and son-in-law, Matthew Novosel.
In addition to his parents, Ron is preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Novosel; brother, Joseph Lewis, and sister Barbara Downs-Gregory.
Friends may call to the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home on Tuesday February 3, 2026, from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Military Honors will be conducted by the WVANG Honor Guard and the Preston County Honor Guard VFW Post 1589 of Masontown, WV at 5:30 pm, Scripture and Prayer service will be held at 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Edwards Catholic Church, 1204 E State Ave, Terra Alta, WV, on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 10:00 am with Father Dominic Athishu as celebrant. Burial in the Terra Alta Cemetery will be postponed until weather conditions are more favorable.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron's memory may be made to the Preston County Animal Shelter, 278 Poor Farm Road, Kingwood, WV 26537.
