Obituary of Thomas Richard Parkinson

Thomas Richard “Tom” Parkinson, 78, of Lewistown, PA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the people he cared about the most, at the home of his adopted daughter in Bruceton Mills, WV.

Born February 4, 1947, in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Thomas Christopher and Arlene L. (Thummel) Parkinson.

Tom served his country as a mechanic in the United States Air Force. He spent nearly 45 years as a horse trader, trading horses all over the east coast. Tom was a beloved member of the horse community.

He is survived by his adopted daughter, Destiny “Nikki” Capan and companion, Tyler Resh; one brother, James A. Parkinson; one sister, Terri Kelker; one sister-in-law, Jan Parkinson; a grandson, Kaiden Resh; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald W. Parkinson and a sister-in-law, Mary E. Parkinson.

In accordance with his wishes, he donated his body to the WVU Science Human Gift Registry. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
