Obituary of Chester Paul Cramer

Chester Paul "Jarv" Cramer, 81, of Terra Alta, WV, peacefully passed away on Sunday November 2, 2025, in Oakland, MD, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law.

 

He was born on October 20, 1944, in Terra Alta, WV, a son of the late Jacob Scott Cramer and Margaret Louise (Riggins) Cramer.

 

Chester worked in the coal mines and in construction, but his most enjoyable job was farming and woodworking. He was very talented making all kinds of furniture, cabinetry, and knickknacks. Chester attended the Trinity United Methodist Church and was a board member.

 

He is survived by four step children, Melvin Kelly and wife, Karen of Bowling Green, KY, Michael Kelly, Donna Sypolt and husband, Steve all of Terra Alta, and Leonora Wilt and husband Larry of Oakland, MD; nine grandchildren, Marc A. (Danielle) Kelly, Melynda (Nicki) Allen, Lynn (Nicole) Johnson, Stephanie Bowling, Kelly Friend, Stacy (Matt) Barr, David (Katie) Kelly, Doug (Jessica) Kelly, and Michelle (Jonathan) Dixon; 17 great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren; two brothers, George Cramer and Terry Cramer both of Terra Alta; sister, Mary Rodeheaver and husband, Marvin of Albright; and several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, Chester is preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Eva Jean (Thomas-Kelly) Cramer in 2022; two brothers, David H. Cramer and Jimmy Cramer, and sister, Sarah Cramer-Wolfe.

 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Chester's wonderful and loving caregiver, Annie Ringer, and Amedisys Hospice.

 

Friends may call at Trinity United Methodist Church in Terra Alta, WV on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 11:00 am until the 1:00 pm time of service with Pastor Tom Strahin officiating. Interment will follow in the Centenary Cemetery.
