Obituary of Donald Richard Miller

Donald Richard "Donnie" Miller, 73, of Terra Alta, WV, passed away Monday, September 1, 2025, at Kingwood Healthcare Center, Kingwood, WV, with family by his side. He was born on December 22, 1951, in Terra Alta, WV, a son of the late Noah Miller and Gretta (Trembly) Miller. He was raised by his aunt, whom everyone knew as, Nanny Blanche Trembly. She loved him and took care of Donnie and his siblings as her own children. Donnie was an exceptional and dedicated member of the Terra Alta Volunteer Fire Department Company 11-160 for 30 years. His Christian faith was a big part of his life, attending many churches over the years and attending church activities at Kingwood Healthcare. In addition to church activities, Donnie served as the President of the Resident Council and loved the bingo games at Kingwood Healthcare. Donnie was a hard worker, working at Kenny Shoe Factory, Bausch + Lomb, and retired from Hopemont State Hospital as a kitchen aide. He enjoyed reading newspapers and visiting with family and friends. He is survived by a daughter, Ashley Dawn Grose and husband, John; three grandchildren, Taylor, Payton, and Liam; former spouse, Sandy Miller, whom he remained close to and her companion, Marty Sarver. In addition to his parents, Donnie is preceded in death by three siblings, Ruth Wolfe, Eve Coddington, and Mike Miller. Memorial donations in Donnie's memory may be made to the Terra Alta Volunteer Fire Department, 1120 E. State Avenue, Terra Alta, WV 26764. The Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home in Terra Alta, WV, will provide compassionate and professional cremation services. A celebration of life for Donnie will be held on a later date. The family would also like to say thank you to John, for being such a great roommate and friend during Donnie's stay at the nursing home.
