Obituary of Darrell Franklin Severe

Darrell Franklin "Frank" Severe, 71, of Terra Alta, WV, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2025, at his home. He was born on September 16, 1953, in Hutton, MD, a son of the late Nancy (Severe) Lambert. Frank proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a jack of all trades, working as an electrician, truck driver, coal miner, and many more. In his younger years, Frank raced dirt cars. He enjoyed reading and was a classic car enthusiast. He absolutely loved his Duster and his whole collection. Frank is survived by a daughter, Stacey "Jesse" Severe and wife, Kate Johnston; son, Joshua "Josh" Severe and wife, Alma May Severe all of Terra Alta; step-grandchildren, Shayla Uphold and Jasmine Uphold; two sisters, Debbie Dumire and husband, Ronnie of Eglon, WV, and Leona Wilson of Oakland, MD; brothers, Larry Wilhelm of Oakland, MD, and Steve Wilhelm of Orville, OH. In addition to his parents, Frank is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Linda R. (Mulliken) Severe in 2016 and a sister, Brenda Severe. To honor Frank's wishes, he will be cremated. The Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home in Terra Alta, WV, will provide compassionate and professional cremation services. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Terra Alta Community Building. The family is asking everyone to bring a covered dish and enjoy a potluck style dinner to share good food and memories of Frank. Private inurnment will be held on a later date at the WV National Cemetery with military honors conducted by the WVANG Honor Guard and the Preston County Honor Guard VFW Post 1589 of Masontown, WV.
