Joyce Mae Edeburn Dixon,
87, of Amboy, died Saturday May 6, 2017 at Cortland Acres, Thomas, WV, where she was a resident since January.
The daughter of the late Herbert and Dottie Stemple Edeburn, she was born December 30, 1929 at Coketon, near Thomas, WV.
She loved the community in which she lived and was active in community activities. She attended Amboy United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School Classes. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Her favorite times were when she could gather her family, relatives, and friends together for family dinners. She loved to read, tending her flower gardens, feeding the birds, and chasing the squirrels away from the bird feeders. Joyce will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by three sons and spouses, David E. and Virginia Dixon and Michael F. and Leona Dixon all of Amboy, and Gary B. and Cheryl Dixon of Farmington; seven grandchildren: Scott Dixon and spouse Lisa, Lori Rodeheaver, Shane, Jonathan and spouse Jennifer, William M. Dixon, Chad and Gretchen Baker; eight great grandchildren: Chase and Bryson Rodeheaver, Darrius and Landon Dillard, Tristan, Bryson, Austin and Brooklyn Baker; four great-great grandchildren, a special friend, Lisa Poland, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, William "Bill" Dixon and a granddaughter, Melanie Dawn Dixon. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, which included 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
Family and friends will be received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta on Monday from 3-8:00 p.m. and from 11:00 on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 until the 12:00 noon time of service with Rev. Michael Lantz officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Aurora.
